Transportation carriers need various kinds of classification of goods, which are transported by transport companies, to organize the process of transportation, purposely to regulate and optimize not only the process itself but also preparatory work, which is specific for every single case. Based on applicable regulations and physical parameters of the goods run by motor transport, these goods are nominally subdivided into following groups:
1. Standard – mass of this cargo should not exceed the size determined by manufacturer for the given vehicle intended for the usage on public rods, overall dimensions of the goods and vehicle must correspond to traffic regulations.
2. Outsized – cargo which come out of vehicle dimensions – 1to 2 meters from the front and rear, from sides - more than 0,4 meters from the outer edge of front or rear sidelights. Transportation of this type of cargo is allowed only if there’s a marking “Outsized cargo” on the vehicle.
3. Large-size and heavyweight - these goods hold nonstandard size, weight, capacity and so on. Their transportation is aligned with great difficulties for it’s impossible to transport them by standard means. Sometimes it’s necessary to create special vehicles, think of special ways and develop special routes of transportations. For example, drilling device and heavy generator belong to this type of cargo.
4. Dangerous – these are substances, materials, goods, industrial or any other waste that under their peculiar behavior and properties can harm people, other living organisms, property, or the environment. Depending on physicochemical characteristics dangerous goods are divided into classes: radioactive, flammable, explosive, toxic, corrosive, biohazardous, oxidizers, an asphyxiants, pathogens and so on.
5. Live – this type of cargo includes cattle, poultry and other farm livestock.
